Who is Douglas Emhoff?

Douglas Emhoff is the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, making him the first Second Gentleman of the United States. He is also the first-ever Jewish spouse of a U.S. vice president and the first-ever second gentleman of color.

Emhoff was born to Jewish parents in Brooklyn, New York, in 1964. He grew up in New Jersey and attended the University of Southern California, where he earned a law degree. After graduating, he worked as an entertainment lawyer in Los Angeles, representing clients such as Tom Hanks and Martin Short.

Marriage and Family

Emhoff met Harris in 2013 on a blind date. They married a year later and became stepparents to Harris's two children, Cole and Ella.
